On Bondwoo, random video chat pairs you with one other adult who is also looking for a conversation at that moment. The flow is simple:

1. Open the Random video section and allow camera and microphone access.
2. Press Start. Bondwoo looks for someone available and connects you.
3. Talk by video, and use the text chat on the side if you prefer typing or want to share a link.
4. Press Next to meet someone else, or Pause to take a break.

The video itself is peer-to-peer: it travels directly between your browser and the other person’s browser. Bondwoo’s servers only help the two devices find each other, and they never record or store the video.

Why video beats text for first conversations

Text chat is great for slow, thoughtful conversations, but video gives you something text can’t: tone of voice, facial expressions and instant reactions. That makes it easier to tell whether you actually get along with someone, and it makes conversations feel more human.

Get your setup right

Good light in front of you (not behind), your face centered and a quiet room make a bigger difference than any opening line. Use headphones if you can, to avoid echo.

Open with something specific

“Hi” works, but a specific question works better: ask where they are connecting from, what they are doing tonight, or comment on something you can see. Specific questions get real answers.

Give it thirty seconds

Many people skip too fast. A first awkward moment is normal on both sides. Give the conversation a little time before pressing Next.

Move good matches to a private chat

If you enjoy talking with someone, send them a friend request during the call. Once they accept, you can keep talking later in a private chat, even after the video ends.

Staying safe on camera

• Do not show your face together with personal details: your full name, address, school, workplace or documents.
• Check what is visible behind you (mail, photos, windows with recognizable views).
• Never send money, codes or intimate content to someone you met online. Threatening to leak images to get money (sextortion) is a crime: stop the conversation, keep evidence and report it.
• Video calls are peer-to-peer, which means the other person’s browser connects directly to yours and can technically see your IP address. Use a VPN if that worries you.
• Skip and report anyone who makes you uncomfortable. You never owe a stranger a conversation.

The nudity filter, explained

Bondwoo includes an optional nudity filter for random video. It runs entirely on your own device: every few seconds, a small AI model checks the incoming video and blurs it if it looks explicit. You then choose whether to view it or report the user. No frames are sent to Bondwoo’s servers. The filter is not perfect, so it should be seen as a safety net, not a guarantee.
